Wow. If any of you guys haven't seen this film, it is an absolute must. I am not sure where I originally heard about it, but I'm really glad I did. The official site is www.panslabyrinth.com. It is a Spanish film (with subtitles) that is based in post-Civil War Spain in 1944. It centres around a young girl who has traveled with her mother to meet her new step-father, who is a Captain assigned to eliminate all rebels. Without revealing much of the plot, I can say that she meets with some wonderous and scary mystical creatures and a whole new life opens up to her... This film has been described as "a fairy tale for adults". It is wonderful, but isn't a lovely little innocent film, and actually contains some quite gory and violent parts. Luckily, most of the gore actually doesn't turn out to be as graphic as you think it will be, and the film makes a habit of cutting to a new scene just as something particulary gruesome happens. This film also has an incredibly dark and sombre atmosphere in most parts, and only sometimes becomes happy and light. See this film now. It is out on DVD (or perhaps I know where you can get a free torrent download of it - PM me for details). If anyone has seen it, please leave some thoughts on it here. Cheers, Franklint

Saw it. Both extremely creepy and gross AND cool. I rather liked the hand-eyeball creature thing. As for the ending, it's kinda hard to tell if it's happy, tragic, or both. 0_o
