Woah, that's awesome!
Nice work Glitchy.
If that isn't to do with emulator problems or a corrupt ROM, then it's even cooler.
How did you get to that state? Did you just wander over to the area near the sign and it was screwed?
Cheers, Franklint

Holy crap.
So what triggered the glitch? Apparently, the sign created loads of invisible walls, and when you jumped over it, all terrain collision data was, at least for a moment, completely glitched... However, there shouldn't have been an invisible floor where you landed, but that could also be a result of the glitch... Weird.

How did you get to that state? Did you just wander over to the area near the sign and it was screwed? I was doing the 'Find the 8 red coins' star, and I was heading over to get the one behind the gate. Little did I know that the game was going to make that a lot harder than usual. And Dave's right. Nothing about the invisible walls should have accounted for the invisible floor that was Out of Bounds. EDIT: Part II now up: youtube.com/watch?v=5A1DSCP_qAg

So it's a ramp... Perhaps something is causing the game to load collision data from another level? Or maybe... There is a RAMP leading down to that area with the Bob-Omb, Red Coin, and the ! button. Perhaps the terrain's collision data has been rotated by about 90 degrees counterclockwise?

wow. just wow. that is awkward. I've always been wondering something. Why did they release the game when they did when it's so full of glitches?

As technology progresses, beta testing methods improve. The same applies in worse; older games have worse beta testing, because beta testing methods were less advanced and/or effective back then.

I've spent the past few days trying to recreate the glitch with no success. I'm guessing that you have to jump over the sign at just the right speed, height, and angle to trigger it.

that's odd. Maybe it's just one of those "can only do it once then you can never do it again" glitches.
