I saw this on the GameFAQs board. It's pretty epic.
That link doesn't work so you'll have to manually search youtube but it's there.

That's insane! Although, it could possibly be done without savestates/slowdown if you insanely good at the game.

Nice! So, the record's finally been brought down to just 1 star. Incredible.

I highly doubt that anyone will ever be able to bypass the required DDD star, but then again no one ever thought that the game could be completed with less than 16 stars... However, there may come a day when someone will discover a simpler way of doing a 1 star run - one that can be done in real time.

God damn. I hoped this day would come. It doesn't worry me that it is borderline impossible to do it on a console (no, not fully impossible), as I think that a TAS is still completely fair, because no actual cheating is involved. Wow. That's heaps intense. Y'all should check out the full-quality vid on tasvideos.org and also check out some of the other runs, especially the N64 ones. Cool stuff. Cheers, Franklint

Hi guys, Update! The record, despite all doubts, has finally been brought down to 0 stars!!!!!!!! A BLJ on the small staircase outside the second Bowser door allowed the players to gain enough speed to bypass the DDD entrance and land directly in the second Bowser hole!!!!!! I found a YouTube link: youtube.com/watch?v=jFlH90SrOKMAs before, check out the original submission on tasvideos.org - N64 section. This game has been smashed. Seriously. The original intended length was probably about 6 hours (I have no idea how long really, just a guess) for 70 stars. Now it's down to 0 stars in 5 minutes 47. Cheers, Franklint

I think all they can do now is cut down the number of frames as best they can. It's kind of a shame that there's no way it can get any easier now.
