Fun fact: I have been meaning to add this glitch for a year or two, but never got around to getting a good video of some of the effects. Now that that's done, I might as well type it up too.
Game: Halo
Platform: Mac (presumably possible on other platforms)
Title: Ghosts in buildings and other screwiness
Level: Assault on the Control Room
Difficulty: Normal (probably possible on any)
Method:
(Part 1) (a video of this part of the process is available after the write-up)
This is quite simple to pull off. First, find your way to the large ice field with the mechanical structure that leads into the ground. On the right-hand side (after entering the field) of the structure, there should be a door that leads to the next part of the level. You want to go through this door, and journey through the indoor section, eliminating all enemies up to the elevator that you should soon come across. Now, return to the field.
Trek backwards through the level until you pass some large columns stopping bigger vehicles from getting past. Locate a Ghost.
Getting the Ghost past the columns shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Just move from side to side between poles, or go around the edge (up the cliff face slightly). Once past, continue through the tunnel and up the small ledge, onto the ice field where you just left.
Still on the Ghost, approach the aforementioned door. You will notice that it does not open as long as you are on the vehicle (no matter how hard you smash into it). This isn't a problem, because the mechanics of the door make it rather slower than we are able to move. What you want to do is ride right up to the door, so the front of your vehicle is touching it. Now, hop off the Ghost and quickly jump back on. The door should open, and you will be able to drive inside before it closes again. If the door doesn't open, try getting off, moving forward as far as necessary (walk on the Ghost if required), then quickly jumping back onboard as soon as the door starts to move.
Drive the Ghost down the bendy corridor and into the main room of the facility. Navigating in here can sometimes be difficult (now you see why I told you to get rid of the enemies), but persist and you should be able to travel around the perimeter of the room, as you would if you were playing the level normally. When trying to pass one of the large blocks in the middle of the road, I find that driving around them on the inside of the room is far easier than the outside (there are nooks in the wall that assist you in getting around the blocks).
You should go under several sections with low ceiling, but luckily, you are able to fit underneath them without too much hassle. After going nearly all of the way around the room, off to the side you will see a hallway that leads to another door and the elevator. This is where you want to head, avoiding obstacles the same way you have been thus far. At some point here, the camera will probably go a bit crazy and give you a view from outside the walls, while making you and your mount disappear. Regardless, keep moving in the same direction until you hit a door. Pull the same trick as you did the first time to get the Ghost through here. It will be a much tighter squeeze however, so you may need to try a few times. When you are successful, the wingtips of the Ghost will probably be slightly outside the walls of the passage.
Drive carefully along, turn the corner in the passage, and use your glitching skills to pass the final door (there should be a checkpoint here) and drive onto the elevator. Here is where things get really trippy.

(Part 2) (a video of this part of the process is available after the write-up)
From your current location, there are a few things you can do, although all are based on the fact that, for some reason (presumably rapidly- and vertically-moving ground that the Ghost object doesn't know how to handle), the Ghost will stay on the elevator until it (the elevator) reaches a certain speed, at which point the Ghost will fall quickly through it and land at the bottom of the shaft. You can stand nearby and watch it fall through, perhaps jumping off the edge just afterwards to get a better look. Alternatively, you can get on board and fall to the bottom of the shaft with the Ghost. This is, I believe, the only way to be able to walk around on the bottom of the elevator shaft. It's quite cool down there. It's also far lighter than the video, so you can see stuff quite clearly. The only way to get out is to kill yourself with grenades or a rocket blast. If you get down there without any rockets or grenades, you'll probably have to load a previous checkpoint to escape.
Also, by fluke when recording the first part of this glitch on video, I somehow died by walking into the Ghost just as it was falling through. I have not tried to replicate this effect, but the elevator's and Ghost's opposite directions of travel no doubt has something to do with it.
The next step in exploring this rather significant glitch in Halo is to find a way to get the Ghost to the top of the elevator shaft. From here, further exploration of the facility will no doubt be possible, with more interesting effects possibly coming to the fore.
